Projects for 2018
Everybody Counts
On Sunday afternoon, January 7th, The Jordan Miranda Memorial Foundation was once again honored to work with Everybody Counts Ministry in Pueblo. The ministry was established in 2011 with the purpose of feeding the hungry and the homeless. Every Sunday, the ministry, along with various volunteers, gather together to distribute a warm meal and a variety of donated goods to the Pueblo homeless population.
Foundation members distributed warm socks to all in attendance at Mineral Palace Park that chilly January afternoon. We were welcomed and greeted with sincere gratitude. One woman commented that her husband desperately needed some socks… we felt so blessed to be able to give. The Foundation was able to distribute close to 100 pairs of socks thanks to the generosity of South Park Christian Chapel in Fairplay, CO. The South Park congregation collected warm socks throughout the month of December to bless the homeless in another community. That is the true spirit of giving... thank you for your genuine kindness and compassion.
Adopt A Highway
The Jordan Miranda Memorial Foundation has adopted a portion of Colorado Highway 9 in Park County. We gathered Sunday, June 3rd for a big clean-up of the 2-mile stretch that includes much of Alma and a a little over a mile north of town. We collected 15 bags of trash! Our next clean-up is planned for the end of summer. The Colorado Department of Transportation will be putting up a sign to acknowledge the Foundation’s adoption of this section of highway.
Ronald McDonald House
On Saturday, July 7th, the Jordan Miranda Memorial Foundation cooked and served breakfast at the Ronald McDonald House in Aurora.
It was a full house and we met some wonderful families who are staying there while their sick children are being cared for at Children’s Hospital. Some have been there for months.
We were honored to provide breakfast and kind words to these families who are dealing with such monumental stress. They not only have very ill children, but many are away from their homes and support systems.
We pray for a full recovery and healing for these precious children and comfort and peace for their families.
Always be kind.
Cooperative Care
Jordan was well-known by friends and family for his impeccable sense of style. He loved to dress up and was able to pair various pieces to create truly remarkable outfits. He had quite the collection of suit jackets, dress pants, dress shoes, and ties.
In his memory, the Jordan Miranda Memorial Foundation donated these items to the Pueblo Cooperative Care Center on Friday, July 13th. This amazing volunteer and faith-based organization was established in 1982 and serves to prevent hunger and to improve the quality of life of citizens residing in Pueblo County, Colorado. They provide food, hygiene essentials, clothing, and other assistance to individuals and families. In 2017, they served 15,859 households and more than 32,000 individuals.
Jordan’s clothing will go to individuals needing professional wear for job interviews or other special occasions. Jordan was kind-hearted, thoughtful, and always advocated for the less fortunate. We know this is what he would have wanted and we cannot think of a better way to honor his precious memory than to support the Pueblo Cooperative Care Center.
First Christian Church
The Jordan Miranda Memorial Foundation has partnered with First Christian Church in Mobile, Alabama in their efforts to feed the hungry. Every Monday, volunteers at the church gather together to prepare and serve an on-site hot meal to the local impoverished community. We are proud to participate in this incredible volunteer outreach program.
Annual Sock and Cookie Giveaway
The Jordan Miranda Memorial Foundation held their annual Christmas Socks and Cookie giveaway on Christmas Eve. Joining First Christian Church in Mobile, Alabama, we helped feed the homeless and hungry a hot meal. We gave away almost 120 pairs of new socks along with bags of homemade cookies.
