Turning Back Time

A letter to Jordan:

Another end to daylight savings time as we turned our clocks back an hour last weekend. Oh how I wish I could turn back time - I need more time with you. I often escape in the daydream of spending another day with you. What would we do? We would sit and talk and I would listen with 100% concentration as to not miss a single word. Do you know I miss our conversations? I miss your spot-on perspective about current events, your thorough understanding of history, your keen wit and the kind and wonderful way you taught me valuable life lessons and opened my mind to new ways of seeing things. So often when tragic news makes headlines I want to call you and ask your opinion. I so miss you!

But I don’t control time-God does. And while I can’t change the past, I can participate in the future. From this day forward I need to be in the moment. When I engage with others I need to be focused so I can appreciate each and every second I share with those I love.

I so often told you that it was you who taught me my most valuable life lessons. Even in death you continue to teach me and I am grateful.

I love you, Jordan

- Mom
